Whilst drawing my latest Instagram portrait I managed to wreck 3 different pens. Each portrait has thousands of dots and the nibs of the pens just can't handle that much abuse, which means they need to be replaced.
I've never wanted to sell these images because they are something I do for my own enjoyment, but with the need to constantly replace the pens, it's getting to be more expensive than I'd like.
I've just posted on Instagram that I'll be operating a sort of 'honesty box' payment system. I draw a portrait. I post it to the subject. They pay whatever amount they wish.
I appreciate that this could potentially result in no-one paying anything, which is fine, it just means I do fewer portraits. However, I suspect people would generally be willing to pay something, and if that happens to cover just the cost of postage, that would be a success.
