What app? Part II

ex·o·dus

noun -  a departure or emigration, usually of a large number of people

It seems that it was all a big misunderstanding and we can all go back to posting on Instagram. Nice as that might be, I'm still looking around and have found a few apps that are quite good.  All the stuff in black was written at the time of the announcement. Feel free to ignore it.

Back in October I posted about the applications I use most frequently, or that I thought were worthy of mention, and the very first application I wrote about was Instagram.  I use(d) Instagram probably on an hourly basis, and that's a conservative estimate!

Today, as a result of the proposed changes to the terms of service, I made the decision to no longer upload images to Instagram.  The terms of service that are to be effective from 16th January 2013 suggest that a user's content may be used by Instagram in adverts for their own purposes.  This isn't necessarily anything new, in fact it's probably quite common, but Instagram/Facebook wants to go a little further and SELL the content.  I refuse to allow my content to be used to line someone else's pockets.

Now, I don't know exactly how many images Instagram will have access to, but considering Rihanna has 5.7 million followers alone if each of those followers posted just 10 pictures that would be a library of 57 million images available for sale.  That would make Instagram one of the world's largest stock image libraries over night.

If you're reading this and you happen to have followed me on Instagram I appreciate your support and your comments but I won't be posting any further content on Instagram.  My account will remain active until the end of the year, but i'm not optimistic about a reversal of the terms of service so from January 1st my account will be deleted.

Soon to be replaced with ..... something.
